Today was double lunch day at school. We packed an extra lunch in our bag to give to the Ottawa Mission.We did it for those who are less fortunate and can’t afford for a meal. My school is working with the Ottawa Mission to help gather meals for the people who don’t have a meal. We do this to help others who are less fortunate.
In the lunch I put 1 sandwich, chewy bars, chocolate milk, muffin, lindor chocolate. I hope that whoever gets my lunch will have a good meal.
A lot of people die everyday because of hunger. More children die than adults everyday because of poverty. I used to think that there was not enough food for everyone but that is not the reason why some people live in poverty.
Even though there is plenty of food for everyone some people can’t afford to buy any food.
Did you know that the areas in the world that have the most poverty are in Central America, Africa and Asia?

In Ottawa poverty is different than in other places because in Ottawa you don’t see many people out on the streets asking for money or for food but in places like Africa or Asia it might be common to see people asking for money or food.
How can you help ?
There are many charities in ottawa that can help to decrease the number of people in poverty. At St.Gabriel we work with Ottawa Mission, Shepherds Of Good Hope and Free The Children. Here are some ways you can help and a bit information about the charities.
